Gallery Openings: Camille Rose Garcia, Live Sculpt & The Have and Have Not

This week’s best gallery and museum events include a fairytale-esque book signing at SFMOMA, a live sculpture fundraiser at Project One, and a new comic-book inspired group show at Varnish Fine Art.

This Thursday, join SFMOMA in celebrating Camielle Rose Garcia‘s new book, Snow White. The fairytale maiden (who had a recent surge in popularity with Once Upon a Time and Mirror Mirror), is captured in a whole new, immaginative light through Garcia’s brush strokes. And if the stories aren’t sweet enough to get you there, perhaps a slice of cake would do the trick? Pastry chef Dante Nuno, of Fire and Icing, will create a special cake to honor Garcia.

This Friday, don’t miss the special fundraiser, Art & Politics: A Live Sculpt, at Project One. Watch in awe as sculptor, Marco Cochrane, sculpts the evening’s live model, politician, Alix Rosenthal. All proceeds will benefit Truth is Beauty and, Rosenthal’s re-election campaign to the Democratic County Central Committee.

Varnish Fine Art presents the opening reception of The Have and Have Not Group Show, this Saturday at Varnish. Illustrator Lee Ballard curates this contemporary, mixed-media show, featuring 18+ illustrators, inspired by sci-fi and fantasy comic book art.
