Literary Events: Madonna and Me, Anarchist Book Fair & More

This week’s top literary events include a Madonna & Me launch party, the 2012 Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair and author Christopher Moore’s latest.

Celebrate the launch of Madonna & Me: Women Writers on the Queen of Pop, this Thursday at  the Cat Club. The collection was edited by local writer/editor, Laura Barcella, who will read this Thursday. Also expect book giveaways for the forst 10 people in line, and for the 10 best Madonna-dressed. Stay after the reading for Cat Club’s weekly 80s night dance party.

The Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair is an annual favorite among SF’s lit world, and will return this Saturday and Sunday to the SF County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. The free, two-day book fair, produced annually by Bound Together Bookstore, aims to unite and promote radical booksellers, distributors, indie presses and political groups from around the world. In addition to market-style shopping, the fair will feature a number of speakers and panel discussions — full details here.

Finally, local author, Christopher Moore, will present Sacre Bleu: A Comedy D’Art, next Tuesday at Books Inc. in Opera Plaza. Sacre Bleu, a piece of historical fiction, follows two men as they attempt to uncover the mystery behind van Gogh’s “suicide” — part mystery, party love story, and all comedy.
