Five New Spots to Grab Brunch
Last year, one of the major trends that I saw was the return of brunch service at many bars and restaurants in San Francisco. Each weekend, it seemed like there was a new brunch to try somewhere across town. Well, don’t look now but that trend is continuing in early 2012.
Here are a few spots that either just opened recently or are set to open this month:
Cedar Hill: The Marina newbie, which focuses on Southern cuisine and BBQ, opened for brunch earlier this year. The menu focuses on classic brunch items, although there are a few twists (deep fried french toast, smoked bbq hash). Located at 3242 Scott Street. Open for brunch Saturday and Sunday.
Park Tavern: Park Tavern has been a darling of the critics since opening in 2011. The North Beach destination spot started brunch service last weekend and chef Jennifer Puccio has a killer menu including salads and sandwiches, breakfast items and several pastries. Located at 1652 Stockton Street . Open for brunch Saturday and Sunday.
Parada 22: We mentioned Parada 22 starting brunch last month. There will be plenty of breakfast favorites (lots of egg dishes) and also an ode to the Puerto Rican flair the Haight restaurant is known for. Located at 1805 Haight Street. Open for brunch Saturday and Sunday.
Town Hall: Town Hall is starting brunch on Saturday, March 3 with a menu that veers toward the South. Cornflake brioche french toast, southern comfort, and the Town Hall purgatory are just part of the exciting menu. Located at 342 Howard Street. Open for brunch Saturday and Sunday.
State Bird Provisions: The new restaurant next to the Fillmore has been getting rave reviews ever since opening late last year. Now, chef proprietors Stuart Briozka and Nicole Krasinski will be offering brunch on Sundays, starting on March 11. A menu has not been determined at this time, but it’s sure to be delicious. Located at 1529 Fillmore Street. Open for brunch on Sundays.
