Get To Know A Place to Bury Strangers

A Place to Bury Strangers perform at The Independent with The Joy Formidable on March 12 and 13. The band listed the top 5 things to know about them to prepare for their industrial, gothic, dark wave invasion.

Brooklyn’s A Place to Bury Strangers have been pumping out screeching industrial psych-rock since 2003. The band is currently on tour to support their latest release, an EP entitled Onwards To The Wall (Dead Oceans). I asked guitarist/vocalist Oliver Ackerman and bassist Dion Lunadon to list the top five things to know about APTBS before they perform in San Francisco:

1. Dion hates Corned Beef.

2. Oliver hates Beefed Corn.

3. Oliver’s middle name is Balki.

4. Dion once appeared on the TV show The West Wing (Season 1, Episode 3).

5. They have both lost a considerable amount of hearing and consider the band to be “not that loud.”

In short, leave all corned beef and beefed corn products at home, catch up on some West Wing (specifically Season 1, Episode 3) and for the love of all that is holy, bring some earplugs. Rumor has it these buys operate somewhere in between Dinosaur Jr. and My Bloody Valentine, i.e.: DANGER – but in a fun way.
