Penthouse Set to Launch Club and Steakhouse

Branded as setting a new standard for “premium San Francisco adult entertainment,” the Penthouse Club and Steakhouse is set to open its doors to the public in March.

General Manager Glenn Prime said the idea of mixing food and adult entertainment is not something new. “We have studied venues across the country, including the Penthouse Executive Club in New York and similar clubs in Las Vegas. We know that this integration of a fine dining experience and top-notch adult entertainment can work and be successful,” Prime said. “When we undertook this project, renovations were only supposed to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. But we went all out and the result is a multi-million dollar project that is a first of its kind in San Francisco.”

Taking over the former Showgirls space on Broadway, Prime said that there was really no other place they wanted the club to be. “Penthouse being a national brand, there was no other place in San Francisco to do this than in North Beach, one of the most famous neighborhoods in the world,” he said.

When people think of adult entertainment venues, food is probably not at the top of the list of what they are thinking about. But Penthouse is looking to change that by bringing on award winning chef Michael Ellis, who worked for several years under famed chef Charlie Palmer, including as executive chef at Dry Creek Kitchen, when the Healdsburg restaurant was awarded with a Michelin Star. “For now, the menu will consist of four salads, two dry-age steaks, an organic filet mignon, free range chicken breast and diver scallops. There will be plenty of side dishes, starters and caviar service as well,” said Ellis. “From my time at Dry Creek Kitchen, I learned about the importance of local farms and how much trouble they are in. So most of the menu will include locally-grown products. Eventually, I’d like to do a tasting menu based on the local farmers markets.”

The layout of the club will include two levels, including a VIP area and champagne room. There will also be two full bars and three stages. Prime said that although they are looking to fully integrate the two sides (food and entertainment), customers will be able to enjoy just the restaurant if they want to as well. “Food is going to be a part of the show. The two will intermingle,” said Prime. “We want the dining aspect to be a unique experience just as the adult entertainment will be. But for those people just looking to get a great steak or dinner, they will be very comfortable in this layout.”

The club’s main stages and VIP areas will be equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. Topless entertainment will be provided by the Penthouse Key Girls along with special guest appearances by Penthouse Pets and select adult feature film stars.

The grand opening celebration is scheduled for Thursday, March 15 with a special appearance by 2012 Penthouse Pet of the Year Jenna Rose. The Penthouse Club & Steakhouse is located at 412 Broadway.
