Literary Events: Literary Clown Foolery, Ellis Avery & More

This week’s top lit events include readings by Yasmine Surovec, Tosha Silver, Ellis Avery and Leigh Stein.

Head to The Booksmith this Friday for an evening of Literary Clown Foolery. The book-smart cabaret will give their premier performance of 2012 with two skits — Cat Versus Human by Yasmine Surovec and Outrageous Openness: Letting the Divine Take the Lead, by Tosha Silver.

Also this Friday, author Ellis Avery presents his novel, The Last Nude, at Books Inc. in the Castro. Avery’s slice of historical fiction is set in Paris, and was inspired by the real-life events of Art Deco painter Tamara de Lempicka.

Head back to The Booksmith this Tuesday for New Yorker writer, Leigh Stein‘s debut novel, The Fallback Plan. Both funny and tragic, The Fallback Plan tells the story of Esther Kohler, a new college grad who returns to the suburbs to live with mom and dad. Drama unfolds when she takes a job babysitting (and then some!) for a young couple.
