Geographer Premier New Track Off Upcoming Release

All those pacing their floors in anticipation of Geographer’s next release can rest a little easier tonight. The Bay Area boys have premiered a sneak peek track entitled “Life of Crime” to quell their steadily growing fan base.

Geographer had a huge year. They grew from the band opening at larger to venues to the one headlining them. They hit SXSW in March playing showcases with Local Natives, Atlas Sounds and fellow Bay Area blow-ups The Dodos. They toured with indie giants Stars and were able to reach out to thousands of new fans. They played the Treasure Island Music Festival in October alongside Beach House, Battles, Death Cab For Cutie and Explosions in the Sky. And all this with only an EP and 7″ available.

Geographer then hunkered down in the studio and began writing their full-length debut, MYTH, to be released by Modern Art Records on February 28. But, being the generous folks that they are, they have supplied their fans with a holiday treat. The first track from MYTH, entitled “Life of Crime”, is now available through Paste Magazine. It does not stray far from the solid foundation the band has already set with pop-heavy hooks and crooning vocals, but it does come off as slightly more aggressive, less timid and more straight-up dance. If this is any indication of how catchy the rest of the album will be I predict that 2012 may just trump 2011 for Geographer, and not a moment too soon.
