Theater: Pick Cells, Lumiere & A BAT-ty Anniversary

This week’s top performances include two dance debuts and BATS Improv’s 25th Anniversary celebration.

This Friday, choose Dance Mission Theater and ODC Theater are going head-to-head with new shows. After two years of perfecting the choreography, Raisa Punkki will debut her first evening-length work, Pick Cells, at Dance Mission Theater. And over at ODC Theater, resident artist Catherine Galasso‘s “dance-theater-light installation”, Bring on the Lumiere! will feature Christine Bonansea and Marina Fukushima (both pictured above). Both shows run through Sunday.

On Saturday, the beloved Bay Area Theater Sports Improv team (better known as BATS) will celebrate their 25th anniversary with a special performance at their home, the Bayfront Theatre in Fort Mason. They’re pulling out all of the sketch comedy stunts for this one-night-only, 70-minute performance, featuring founding cast members and alumni from over the years. The no doubt hilarious performance will be followed by a champagne reception to toast actors — past and present.
