And the Star Goes to…

The day many restaurants, owners and chefs have waited all year for has come and gone as the Michelin Guide has awarded its stars for its 2012 guide.

And the big winners: the three new additions to the two star category this year…Saison and Benu in San Francisco and Baumé in Palo Alto. There were also five newbies in the one star category: Atelier Crenn, Michael Mina and Sons and Daughters in San Francisco, Terrapin Creek in Bodega Bay and La Costanera in Half Moon Bay.

Leading the way again this year were the two Wine Country mainstays, The French Laundry and Restaurant at Meadowood, which once again garnered three stars. In total, 47 restaurants made the exclusive list.

The Michelin Guide lists three star restaurants as “exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey,” two stars as “excellent cuisine, worth a detour,” and one star establishments as “a very good restaurant in its category.”

Congratulations to all the restaurants who were honored with stars this year.
