In Case You Missed It: “Illuminations”

On Friday, the SomArts Cultural Center kicked off the opening reception for their annual Day of the Dead exhibit titled “Illuminations: Día de los Muertos 2011″

Curators René and Rio Yañez brought together more than 80 local artists from around the bay area to construct traditional altars and other installations in honor of El Día de los Muertos. The theme, illuminations, was chosen to represent “a source of light for spiritual and intellectual reflection” and the works on display will demonstrate the way technology affects and shapes the Day of the Dead celebration.

The show will run through November 5th. Check the SomArts site for more details.
