Galleries: Ferris Plock, Mask-Making & More

This weekend’s gallery rounds start with new shows at Satellite 66 and the Shooting Gallery, and finish with a craftastic workshop at the Exploratorium

This Friday marks the opening of Oakland-based artist, Anja Leonora Ulfeldt‘s new show at Satellite 66 in SoMa. Through interactive sculptures, Ulfeldt compares the movement of machines to that of humans.

On Saturday, don’t miss local samurai-artist, Ferris Plock‘s latest solo exhibit, Just For One Day, at the Shooting Gallery. The show will feature 20 new mixed-media pieces, oozing with the ornate details and wildly imaginative mash-ups (see above) that Plock is notorious for.

With Plock’s vivid characters providing fresh inspiration, head over to the Exploratorium on Sunday for a morning Mask-Making Workshop with artist Dax Tran-Caffee. You’ll learn how to create elaborate, 100% cardboard masks, for any occasion — and Halloween is, conveniently enough, just around the corner.
