Ghirardelli Square will be filled with plenty of sweets, plus lots of other entertaining options this weekend as it hosts the 16th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s event will once again benefit Project Open Hand, who celebrated their 25th anniversary last year. In 2010, the event raised over $60,000 for the organization.

The Chocolate Festival, which runs from 12-5 each day, features cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, booths from local restaurants, dessert companies and vendors offering delightful samples and the ever popular Ice Cream Sundae Eating Contest.

There will also be a Kid Zone and special chocolate tea menu at Crown and Crumpet.
