Benefit to be Held for Fire Victims

A group of local musicians are coming together on Tuesday night for a benefit concert to help victims of a fire on July 20 that severely damaged a house on Waller Street.

As reported by Haighteration, three local musicians, Pam Brandon, Tom Drohan and Gayle Schmitt, resided in 434-436 Waller. A fire on the evening of July 20 “left the house uninhabitable and destroyed much of their property.”

The blog reports that although they own the building and have insurance, they are not sure how long it will take to be reimbursed for the damages.

Because of that uncertainty, organizers have gathered many of their friends from the local bluegrass and country scenes for a benefit concert dubbed “Twang to the Rescue.”

Doors will open at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Cafe du Nord and tickets are $20 apiece. There will also be a raffle for additional prizes. Good music for a great cause!
