A Meat-tastic Party at the Udder Room

Being some 3,000 miles away from New York makes it difficult to try the famous grass-fed and organic meats at Fleisher’s, but this Wednesday from 8-10pm, owners Joshua and Jessica Applestone are coming to Avendano’s to host a special open-to-the-public party.

They have recently published a book, Butcher’s Guide to Well-Raised Meat, and will be doing a book-signing along tastings of their meats at the event.Fleisher’s is a high-quality butchery in Kingston, New York with a second location opening soon in Brooklyn. The original Fleisher’s Meats opened in 1901 as a Kosher butcher shop, and the current store is a modern reincarnation selling locally raised meat from sustainable farms. Joshua Applestone is the great-grandson of original owner Wolf Fleisher.

The Applestones’ book is about buying, eating and preparing well-raised meat and is as relevant for those who live in grease-splattered aprons as it is for those just learning to wield a butcher knife. Wednesday’s event at the Udder room at Avendano’s will be a celebration of the book, as well as an opportunity to enjoy meats from Fleisher’s and assorted beverages.

Tickets are free, but you’ll want to register ahead of time.
