Album Review: Little Dragon “Ritual Union”

The Swedish electro-soul quartet, Little Dragon, returns with a soulful third album, Ritual Union.” This album couples the futuristic R&B sound of their first album with the synthesized electronic beats from 2009’s “Machine Dreams.”

Lead singer Yukimi Nagano steals the show with her beautifully innocent vocals matched with groovable synth-pop rhythms. “Precious” is a dubstep inspired hit that transforms into a minimal house gem. “Nightlight” is upbeat and poppy with sprinkle of 1988, while “Shuffle a Dream,” is a fun ode to female superstardom; if she continues to produce albums like “Ritual Union,” she’ll quickly become just that.
