Beer Month at A16

Italian restaurant A16 may be known for its wine list, but this month it’ll be all about the beer. Every Thursday night in July, Michael Meier will be hosting a “beer night” where he’ll be pouring two selections while Chef David Taylor will be preparing a special menu item to pair with those beers.

The beer nights have been curated to celebrate the restaurant’s expanded beer list which now includes: Allagash, Birrificio le Baladin, Birra del Borgo, Birrificio Montegioco, The Bruery, Jolly Pumpkin, Panil, Pausa Cafe, Pretty Things, Upright Brewing, and Victory Brewing.

According to organizers, “These new beers have been selected from a variety of styles to compliment A16’s award-winning cuisine. From the beguiling wild yeast flavors of Jolly Pumpkin’s American Ales and the gypsy brews of Pretty Things, to Panil’s supremely tart and complex Italian sour red, production on most of these new selections is miniscule so the folks at A16 are especially excited to have these beers represented.”

It’ll be very interested to see how diners respond; will more people now be ordering glasses of beer instead of wine with their meals? Is the paring of beers underrated and under-appreciated? I guess there’s only one way to find out…by getting to one of Meier beer nights!
