San Jose Eating Champ Devours the Competition

San Jose resident Joey Chestnut is once again the hot eating king of the world, as he downed 62 dogs in 10 minutes on Monday to win the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest at New York’s Coney Island.

The 27-year-old has now won the event five years running.

“Winning tastes pretty good. I feel great,” Chestnut told ESPN after the contest. “It was hot out here but that didn’t really affect me.”

He fell six hot dogs short of his world record of 68.

The Nathan’s contest had a different look this year, as the event was separated into a men’s and women’s division.

Sonya Thomas ate 40 dogs to win the women’s portion of the event.
