SF Health Officials Investigate Oysterfest

The San Francisco Department of Pubic Health is looking into several claims of food poisoning at last month’s San Francisco Oysterfest.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, several Yelp reviewers of the event wrote about “suffering high fevers, shaking and even visiting the emergency room.”

After hearing the complaints, the Department of Public Health investigated the matter and found the cause to be “campylobacter or twisted bacteria,” which causes major food poisoning with symptoms sometimes lasting up to a week.

Eileen Shields with the health department told the paper that investigators have not figured out exactly where the bacteria came from.
