New Mixtape: Donnis’ Southern Lights
Donnis is no newcomer to the hip hop game, spending the last few years compiling a number of mixtapes, joining various indie-flavored tours, and last June releasing his first EP, Fashionably Late. He returns to San Francisco this Saturday immediately following the release of his mixtape Southern Lights with an instore meet-and-greet listening session and afterparty at SOM.
Donnis’s forth mixtape, Southern Lights, dropped for free this week backed by DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs’ Fool’s Gold label. His Atlanta roots shine through with a bouncy, quick flow of rhymes over production from Phoenix, the Cataracs, and others. The remix of A-Trak’s “Ray Ban Vision,” also featuring a verse from Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music artist CyHi Da Prynce, is a standout club track that combines elements of electro with fresh hip hop.

Donnis will be performing live at SOM on Saturday night following a listening session at the grand opening of streetwear store Premium Blends.
