Iconic Eagle Tavern Reportedly to Close

The Eagle, a historic SoMa gay bar, is planning to shut down operations on April 29, that according to SFist.

The website reports that several employees “were in escrow to buy the venue, (but) the landlord changed his mind.”

A community meting is being held on Monday night to “discuss strategies for fighting the Eagle’s closure.”

Known for its “Thursday Night Live” concerts and “Beer Bust Sundays,” the bar has ben a fixture in South of Market for the past 30 years.
