Closed: Bagdad Cafe

Alarming foodie news from the Castro. It seems that longtime neighborhood mainstay and 24-hour diner Bagdad Cafe suddenly shut its doors on Thursday, March 31st. While Sparky’s and Orphan Andy’s are both several blocks away, the Bagdad will be sorely missed.

I guess their lease was up and, after three arduous years of negotiations with their landlord, they couldn’t come to an agreement or amicable solution. So, now the city loses one of its rare 24-hour dining joints. I wish I knew all this beforehand as I would have loved to get in some spicy curly fries and a veggie burger before they shutdown.

According to Inside Scoop, the new tenants of the space will be opening up as soon as May. There’s still no word as to what kind of business it will be.
