Rally for Public Schools

There will be a rally this afternoon against the annual recent budget cuts targeting public schools. Taking place in the Excelsior District, there will be a march starting at the SF Community School at 2pm followed by a rally from 3:30 – 4pm at 163 London Street.

The SF Appeal reports that marchers will traverse from the school (125 Excelsior Ave.) to the “Excelsior Post Office to deliver letters to elected officials demanding “full funding” for public education.”

“Devastating budget cuts have become an annual event for public schools,” rally organizers said in a statement. “We won’t stand for it any longer.”

Participating schools and organizations include Monroe Elementary School, Denman Middle School, Hillcrest Elementary School, June Jordan School for Equity, POWER SF, the Filipino Community Center, Coleman Advocates, Chinese Progressive Association, and more.
