Aziza Inks Deal in Financial District
A happy day for many who are fans of the Moroccan restaurant Aziza as Inside Scoop SF is reporting that chef-owner Mourad Lahlou has signed a deal to bring the restaurant to the Financial District.
Lahlou will be taking over the space at 500 Jackson Street, which has previously housed Cypress Club, Scott Howard and most recently Zinnia.
Inside Scoop’s Paolo Lucchesi has some of the details. “Lahlou has been working on the deal for nearly a year, but says the two sides finally came to terms this morning. The name of the new restaurant is still undecided, but there’s a strong possibility that it will simply be Aziza.”
Lucchesi goes on to say that chef de cuisine Louis Maldonado and pastry chef Melissa Chou will join Lahlou downtown.
Still uncertain is the fate of the current Aziza on Geary Street. Construction is expected to start on the new space in the next 60 days.
