Cobain at 44

If Kurt Cobain was still alive, today would be his 44th birthday. In his honor, the folks over at Flavorpill compiles a list of “44 Things You Didn’t Know” about the Nirvana frontman.

A few of my favorites:

“Before he was famous, for a time Cobain worked as a swimming instructor for kids at the YMCA in Aberdeen.”

“Cobain claims he started throwing 7-Up cans full of pebbles at police cars at the age of six.”

“One of Cobain’s most prized possessions was a signed first edition of William S. Burroughs’ Naked Lunch.”

“Before Nirvana, Cobain had auditioned to be in the Melvins, but was rejected.”
