One of the city’s most successful local businesses, Bi-Rite, is now expanding out of the Mission to Divisadero in the Western Addition. 550 Divisadero, to be exact. Right next door to powerhouse restaurant, Nopa. Bi-Rite helped shape 18th Street’s gourmet ghetto, will it now join forces with its culinary neighbors to do the same to Divis?

Haighteration spoke with Bi-Rite owner Sam Mogannam who said that:

“The new location is a bit bigger and much wider allowing us to incorporate an ice cream scoop counter into the space as well. We are still not sure what the plans for 736 D will be, but most likely we will rent or sell the space. We hope to have 550 open by end of summer, early fall. Septemberish.”

Maybe the addition of another SF Bi-Rite will ease some of the dense traffic the Mission grocery and scoop shop receives? Probably not.
