Off the Grid Back in Business

Following a much deserved vacation for the holidays, the roaming mobile food extravaganza Off the Grid starts back up this Friday.

The popular street food gatherings started last June at the Fort Mason Center and have since expanded to several other locations in San Francisco, including the UN Plaza, McCoppin Hub, Civic Center and Upper Haight.

The event continues to grow as more and more vendors sign up to participate. Organized by the SF Cart Project, Off the Grid offers a number of different culinary options in one convenient space.

On Friday, the trucks will be making a stop at Civic Center, right in front of City Hall from 11:30 am-2:30 pm. Scheduled to appear include Ebbetts Good to Go (cuban sandwiches), Curry Up Now (tika masala burritos), Liba Falafel (falafels), CupKates (red velvet cupcakes) and Hapa SF (lumpia and sisig).

Saturday will be an all day event at McCoppin Hub (corner of McCoppin and Valencia streets between Market and Duboce) from 10:00 am-9:00 pm. Organizers plan to offer brunch, lunch, dinner and desserts/drinks.

For brunch, El Norteno will be offering chorizo breakfast burritos and pickled vegetables. Eat Curbside will be preparing a breakfast bagette, poached eggs and goat cheese and arugula.

Lunch includes Seoul on Wheels (Korean tacos), Hapa SF and Eat Curbside. Dinner and desserts features 3 Sum Eats (deep fried gnocchi), Eat Curbside’s grilled cheese sandwich and the Creme Brulee Cart. Beer, wine and drink specials will also be available at 105 Valencia.

Organizers say Off the Grid will be completely up and running starting next week.
