400lbs of Potatoes in 60 Days

In what sounds bizarrely reminiscent of Morgan Spurlock’s “Super Size Me” in which the director ate nothing but McDonald’s for 30 days, Chris Voigt, the head of the Washington State Potato Commission, ate 400lbs of potatoes for 60 days.

Why, say you.? Why in the world would you do that to yourself? To that, Voigt says, “Because.” No, not really. He did it to protest “a U.S. Department of Agriculture rule barring low-income recipients of food vouchers under the federal Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program from using their benefits to purchase white potatoes.”

And he actually lost 20lbs! But that may have just been his body going into shock and slowly withering away. Well, he’s definitely dedicated, that’s for sure.
