Snapshot Day is a community event which provides an annual “snapshot†view of the health of the rivers and streams flowing into the waters of the Monterey Bay.
The Coastal Watershed Council, in partnership with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and hundreds of community volunteers, systematically sample streams for a variety of pollutants throughout the central coast of California.
CWC and MBNMS staff will train you and put you on fun teams to record valuable water quality data such as pH, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity and transparency. You’ll also pick up trash and collect water samples for laboratory analysis of bacteria indicators and nutrients like nitrate and phosphorus.
