The Creak

Formed in summer 2009, this quintet plays acoustic music rooted in the bluegrass and folk tradition, with hints of blues and punk elements sneaking in to give them a sound both new and old. The Creak’s energetic performances and visible onstage chemistry inspire dancing, singing, and stomping, leaving audiences feeling elated to have taken part in such fun.

Early 2011 saw the release of their debut effort "Here’s To Feeling Good All The Time", a forty minute collection of original tunes.

Eight Belles

Tonight's show will be the official CD Release Party for the brand spankin' new Eight Belles CD. Pick up your copy now...it will change your life.

Jessi Phillips & Eight Belles create original yet classic-sounding country music. The material is delicately layered and instantly recognizable, with Jessi’s large, richly complex voice and striking imagistic lyrics at the forefront. Their music calls to mind classic country and folk artists such as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, and Laura Nyro (recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee!), as well as modern female singer-songwriters like Neko Case, Jenny Lewis, Gillian Welch, and Patty Griffin.

Jessi grew up on a farm in Michigan under the feet of a father who made his living as a professional country and bluegrass singer, guitarist, and fiddle player. Music ran as an undercurrent in her upbringing and she began writing her own pop and country tunes in early twenties, lending her voice and lyrics to Brooklyn bands such as Bowling Green and The Millers.

Jessi has shared bills with Fred Eaglesmith, Emily Jane White, Beat Beat Whisper, Greg Ashley, Rachel Fannan (of Sleepy Sun), Quinn Deveaux, Ash Reiter, Big Eagle, Metal Mother, 21st Century, All My Pretty Ones, Andru Bemis, Martha Bassett, Aaron Young and His Nightjars, & many others.
