The University of San Francisco (USF) invites you to an evening of the arts with the Fall 2013 Dance Ensemble concert “Real Time”. Dance Ensemble students will entertain the audience with original pieces in the modern style. Special guest choreographer and NYC Bessie award winner Joanna Haigood will be presenting “Dying While Black and Brown”, a performance inspired by the Equal Justice Society’s campaign to restore 14th Amendment protection for victims of discrimination, including those on death row.
The performances will portray how USF Performing Arts students successfully connect social justice to dance and movement. Joanna Haigood’s piece explores the death penalty’s unequal impact on people of color as well as the triumph that came with their reclaim to freedom.
