Celebrating 35 years in 2016, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre (LHT) remounts its hit production of THURGOOD by George Stevens, Jr. featuring Steven Anthony Jones as the legendary Civil Rights champion, Thurgood Marshall. In this powerful one-man play, a retired Justice Marshall gives a lecture reviewing his life rising from the back alleys of Baltimore to become the first African-American to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in 1967. With the U.S. Presidential Primary Elections in full swing and a vacant seat on the Supreme Court, LHT's timely production serves as a reminder of how equal civil rights were won and the importance of exercising the right to vote.
