The Young Evils / Hobosexual / The Best Mates

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Young Evils

The Young Evils, a rock outfit hailing from Seattle, Washington, are excellent evidence that final products often look nothing like initial intentions. Started as a lighthearted Vaselines-inspired pop duo composed of record store co-workers Troy Nelson and Mackenzie Mercer, the Young Evils today bear only passing resemblance to their past selves.

After their charming debut album Enchanted Chapel captured hearts far and wide, the duo expanded their sound, enlisting guitarist Michael Lee and teaming up with acclaimed Brooklyn-based producer/engineer Shane Stoneback (Vampire Weekend, Sleigh Bells, Cults) for the follow-up: the bombastic and wholly rock EP Foreign Spells. Today, brothers Brendon (bass) and Scott Helgason’s (drums) rhythm section provide the back bone to the band’s 80’s inspired angular pop in a way only siblings can provide.

The Young Evils released the False Starts EP in November 2014 - and it has garnered a ton of attention and a lot of airplay. False Starts was recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles and The Kill Room in Seattle, Washington. The band will be rejoining Shane Stoneback in the studio to begin work on their next full-length album in the coming months.

Hobosexual

“Hobosexual is bringing back the glory days of real rock, and fans of beards and big, booming music shouldn’t miss the majesty.” – AJ Dent, The Drainage

Seattle duo, and “Hair, Teeth & Volume” pioneers Hobosexual have brought rock n roll back to Seattle. Recently voted “Seattle’s Best Rock Band 2014” (Seattle Weekly), and having drawn record crowds to their stages at both the nationally renowned 2014 Sasquatch and Bumbershoot Music Festivals, the band is currently riding a flaming-lazer-riff-dragon across the United States, spreading the Hobo good times and enjoying a single malt scotch or 2 along the way.

Hobosexual II finds the band mixing everything from AC/DC to T-Rex into 1 titanic melting pot of a concept album, and walking away with “the weirdest but coolest thing you’ll hear all year” (Kirk Windus WSBU FM, NY).

Hobosexual II has garnered hefty praise and exposure thus far, including Rock N Roll Hall of Fame DJ Marco Collins top 5 MUST-own albums of the year list (2014), as well as track features on the hit television show, “Shameless.” The record also enjoyed an unprecedented 6 week run atop the Seattle physical music sales charts, and most recently held within the top 30 for all local and national physical album sales for the year in the Pacific Northwest.

The Best Mates

Hidden in the Valley of The Moon in Northern California, lives an unassuming couple that have built their lives around their devotion to genuine sound. The Best Mates' music is familiar without being nostalgic. Equally influenced by 60's pop and 90's grunge, vocalist Amanda Beach writes authentic songs that make you think as you sing along.

Shawn and Amanda Beach musically developed 2000 miles apart, but found common ground with The Beatles, The Rentals, and The Breeders and formed their first band together in 2005 in the Chicago area. Other influences for the duo include The Minders, EELS, The Get Up Kids, Mazzy Star, The Beach Boys, Darlene Love and The Zombies.
