In the past decade we've seen garage rock, folk and even emo come full circle. And over the past few years there have been indications that another genre revival movement may be underway--as a number of young Latino groups from SoCal have been excavating the scratchy sounds of classic '60s ska and rocksteady. The Delirians, who hail from East L.A., are one of these groups, and they are killing it. The eight-piece has the snappy bounce of Toots and the Maytals, Skatalites and early Bob Marley with a bit of '60s Latin soul thrown in, a la Willie G and Ralfi Pagan. They've got tender, heart on the sleeve melodies and confident, toe-tapping beats. Easy skanking! (AC)
