Tame Impala received their second career GRAMMY nomination for 'Best Alternative Album' for their wildly inventive, genre-breaking album Currents. Currents received near unanimous critical acclaim and has been included in 2015 Best Of lists by Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, Spin, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and more. Consequence of Sound also named them "Band of the Year." The band is pleased to announce they will now return to the U.S. for shows this summer.
Currents was written, recorded, produced and mixed by Kevin Parker in Fremantle, West Australia. Lyrically the record finds Parker in a very different place in 2015 to where he was seven years ago. Transitions in life, relationships, perspectives, mindsets - Currents maps Parker's evolution through these and finds him a brand new person.

To humans however, Tame Impala is more of a 'music ensemble', but its various other forms should not be disregarded (colour that humans can see is only a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum, the rest is just as important to other things!)
Tame Impala make psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music. It's intended for moving one's body to, and it's intended for keeping still and observing other forms of movement. It's bombastic but it's swirling, think of the shoulder bones of a giant striding feline creature through some kind of tunnel.
