OTIS, FEATURING WEST COAST SOUL TREASURE FREDDIE HUGHES
With Erin Honeywell, The Selecter DJ Kirk and special guest opening act.
Otis shows are a modern take on the Stax soul revue that roared through Europe in 1967. The band’s raw, powerful sound combines horns, backing vocals and B3 organ in support of some of the West Coast’s most charismatic front men and women.
Previous Otis shows have featured Bart Davenport, Jesse Wagner (Aggrolites), Moorea (Moetar), Greg Lee (Hepcat), Jerry Miller (Untouchables), Karina Denike and Lilan Kane.
The November 20 show at The Chapel reunites Otis with West Coast soul treasure Freddie Hughes. In the 1960s, Freddie worked with Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Etta James and Ike & Tina Turner. He also wrote and performed a series of indelible soul hits that retain their full impact today. His previous performance with Otis, last year at The Chapel, packed the house and introduced a new audience to this local soul giant.
Otis also will feature Erin Honeywell, a Bay Area native on a rapid rise to prominence, blessed with operatic power and electric stage presence.
