Oh My Goodness...It's Paul Lynde

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The show the critics are raving about, Oh My Goodness … it’s Paul Lynde, written and performed by Michael Airington and directed by John Hall, Oh My Goodness...it's Paul Lynde traces Paul's life from his humble beginnings to his rise to stardom as one of America's funniest and biggest stars on television in the 70's! Best known as the star of such hit television series as “Bewitched” and “The Hollywood Squares,” and movies such as “Bye, Bye, Birdie” legendary comedian Paul Lynde was the inimitable master of the slow burn. Michael Airington portrays Paul Lynde and takes the audience on an unforgettable trip through the highs and lows of his turbulent life, via confessional monologue to “The Hollywood Squares” and back again! .

From his childhood as an overweight kid to his big-screen debut in “New Faces of 1952,” through his Broadway turn in Bye, Bye, Birdie, to his thirteen legendary years on “The Hollywood Squares,” audiences experience the jokes and the laughter of this extraordinary comedian. Airington also highlights the loneliness and heartbreak at the center square of Lynde's life, which makes the man all the more unforgettable to a whole new generation of audiences and fans alike. Airington truly brings Paul and his comic genius back to life.

"One of the most riotous 90 minutes you will ever spend … as Michael Airington reincarnates the legendary comedian Paul Lynde. His portrait of Paul Lynde is brilliant, nostalgic and heartfelt,” says Jose Ruiz of ReviewPlays.com

Peter Marshall states, "Thank you Michael for taking me back to the good days when Paul was around ... I know he'd be thrilled with your performance...You really capture the essence of Paul…which was great fun. It's an evening for everyone who ever loved the sardonic humor of Paul Lynde."

Todd David Schwartz of CBS Radio gave the show four stars, his highest rating, and calls the show “screamingly funny!” “Michael Airington is brilliant. A deft tribute to a man you never would have expected to see immortalized in a one-man show. Sassy, enlightening, nostalgic, and poignant, but – most of all – spitting-out-your-drink uproarious. You'd have to be a real Hollywood square not to dig it!"

An LA WEEKLY “Recommended Show,” the magazine adds, “Michael Airington’s solo cabaret-performance … reincarnates Paul Lynde, who was a legendary personality. Airington has Lynde’s ticks and idiosycrancies down pat — the nasal voice with its slight quaver, the quick explosions of mirth.”

BroadwayWorld says, Airington “bounces from bit to bit, often reacting to comments from the audience with split second timing that truly evokes the spirit of Lynde … the most entertaining part of the show happens when Airington sits down inside the Hollywood Square with his name on it center stage and proceeds to crank out some of his infamous politically incorrect, double entendre one-liners that made him the star of the show for 13 years.”

The show is produced with the full approval and cooperation of the estate of Paul Lynde.
