Midtown Social

Midtown’s mission to spread positive change through the means of culture, art, and music is at the heart of its agenda. By tapping into the past and looking towards the future, Midtown strives to create a present that will support positive transformation through its music and community. Motivated by the struggle and oppression that humanity faces daily and inspired by the love, nurture and hope of the midtown society, Midtown Social strives to fuel the revolution of free, open and creative thought to change the world.

Midtown Social is redefining the California Soul sound with a no-fail good-time sweet spot you crave. Blending soul, funk and rock, this 9 piece ensemble draws on the arrangements by such family bands as Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone and Chicago, while provided provocative vocals influenced by Bill Withers, Tina Turner and En Vogue. With an eclectic community of musicians and styles, Midtown Social never fails to bring a high energy, live music dance party wherever it goes.

Smoked Out Soul

Smoked Out Soul is a lot of different things: It's a mixtape, It's a team of remix producers, It's a bi-monthly party in one of San Francisco's hottest nightclubs: Monarch SF, and it's a live show complete with a DJ mixing funk & soul loops and remixes in the moment, layered with live drums, horns, guitar and percussion. They take remixes and make them organic again live!

Smoked Out Soul is the perfect act for festivals. They appeal to both live music lovers and electronic/hip hop fans. Ring leader Zebuel Early is the guitarist for Afrolicious, Mama's Cookin, The King Tide, The Dub Labratory, Alligator Spacewalk, and more. He is also a well known producer of bass music, hip hop and reggae. Will Magid has played with Bonobo, Erykah Badu, and Pretty Lights to name a few. Drummer Paul Oliphant plays with Afrofunk Experience and has toured with the likes of DJ Logic. With the groups combined connections in the music scene and ability to smoothly improvise, they are great at pulling fellow artists from festival lineups to join forces, forming an all-star act of heavy hitters for late-night sets and daytime parties as well.

They were a favorite at Symbiosis last year and are booked to play Lightning in a Bottle this summer among other festivals and clubs in the California region.

"I was so hyped last week from your show! I've heard a lot of funky deejays but your sound really bumps! Maybe its because you are cueing up a live set, but damn it is hard to come crazy and original now that the funk has so many "standards" in play. The Stax, JB's, Aretha, etc... But I dig the way you play with them all. And then the guitar licks really come in sweet!" - Rickey Vincent - KPFA Radio Host of "History of Funk" and author of "Funk: The Music, The People and The Rhythm of One".

Dirty Revival

Portland born, Dirty Revival has evolved from the confines of a basement, to some of PDX’s most sought after stages. Their soulful sounds and energetic beats delivers an atmosphere that enraptures any audience.

Led by the soulful vocals of Sarah Clarke, Dirty Revival has made their mark on the Pacific Northwest music scene. The unique ensemble delivers powerful original tracks and superbly arranged classics with a resounding presence, no matter how big or small the venue.

The dynamic, seven-piece soul outfit shines on stage, and defines influences from funk- and soul-infused icons of the past. DR has shared the stages with musical heavy-hitters such as George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Slick Rick, Nappy Roots and Gift of Gab, and have several regional tours already under their belt.

The band will spend the rest of 2015 touring in support of their recently release debut album, the self titled, Dirty Revival.

The release was marked by a sold out CD release party at one of Portland’s premier venues, Mississippi Studios. Driven by the warm reception of their freshman album, Dirty Revival has the heart and mind behind the music and the passion to share their soul.
