Stan Poplin has been a mainstay on the Santa Cruz music scene since 1975. One of the most respected bassists on the West Coast, he has performed with some of the giants of jazz, including Bobby Hutcherson and Dave Brubeck. Equally at home with classical music, he is active in chamber ensembles, the Monterey Symphony, and New Music Works. For this special Local & Live concert, Poplin will be featured in a variety of performance configurations with many of his longtime musical cohorts, including his bass ensemble Kontra; vocalist Lori Rivera; and pianists Paul Nagel and Marshall Otwell. Poplin will also be featured in solo compositions for the bass.
