BELLE MONROE & HER BREWGLASS BOYS (SF)
Belle & the Boys have been laying it on the line for Bay Area bluegrass lovers since 1995. While the band has a great appreciation for traditional bluegrass music, they don't quite play it straight; they inject a bit of blues, a smidgen of swing, and a whole lot of fun and frenetic energy. Their repertoire includes original bluegrass and versions of popular classics that are distinctively ‘Brewglass’. "Whether live or on CD, Belle Monroe and her Brewglass Boys are not just another Bill Monroe camp meeting, and that's a good thing. A very good thing."-Hicks with Sticks
Belle Monroe (Pam Brandon) leads the group with her powerful and sultry vocals and steady rhythm guitar playing. Ted Silverman plays mandolin, sings lead and harmony vocals, and writes many of the band’s original songs. Jordan Klein lights up the 5-string banjo, and also sings lead and harmony vocals. Tom Drohan’s strong thumping bass gives the group its distinctive Brewglass drive. Will Fourt on dobro and vocals. Rounding out the band is Diana Greenberg, the prettiest Brewglass ‘boy’, shredding on the fiddle.

ONE GRASS TWO GRASS (Oakland)
One of the Bay Area's freshest new bands, One Grass Two Grass are fast becoming one of the most popular bluegrass outfits around. They deliver high energy, hard driving, fun loving, old-timey, new-timey, good-timey, California stringband music. Through richly lyrical, naturally inspired originals cushioned by a bed of old mountain tunes and the occasional stomping classic rock number, their unique sound is expressed as a mesh of yesterdays established protocols with the need to bring strings to the times in their own exciting way.
Standing on the shoulders of the contemporary movement powered by Old Crow Medicine Show and The Hackensaw Boys, One Grass Two Grass forge their own style of “folk meets old-time meets rock meets bluegrass” craze.
