Description

On the heels of three well-received singles comes Ride Your Heart, the bombastic debut album by LA band Bleached. Sisters Jennifer and Jessie Clavin match their ability to blend a mix of freewheeling 77 punk with vintage sunny Southern California melodic rock and roll; creating blindingly bright hooks and dark heartfelt lyrics about love, loss, and all the crazy fun moments in between. Thats the goal: the sugary and sour, repurposed by two aggressively harmonic musicians and songwriters, stepping into a new visceral dimension of sound. Their full length debut epitomizes this movement gritty, raw, adventurous and frenzied, tossing you out onto the dance floor, hair mussed from make-outs, cigarette still dangling from fingertips.

Ever since Slumberland Records lost a bet and released 2012s Killing Time, it seems that the bored drudges of this outhouse Earth have done nothing but follow that album titles orders, a.k.a. harass me. (Lord knows the everyday fan of these guys has nothing better to do). Visitors, calls, letters. Look, I know Im the only known liaison to the men behind the man, but that doesnt mean I have the answer to the burning question on everyones melon: WHEN IS THE NEXT TERRY MALTS ALBUM COMING OUT?!

Oh, wait, actually I do know the answer to that one! Terry Malts brand-new platter, Nobody Realizes This Is Nowhere, is being released on September 10, 2013, once again on Slumberland Records. The official full-length follow-up to last years year-end-list-thrashing debut, hot on the heels of two more blistering 7s in the meantime.

Who are these Nobodies? Where is this Nowhere? The same crack-staff has been employed: Phil Benson (bass, vocals), Corey Cunningham (guitar, throat), and Nathan Sweatt (drums, confusion), recorded by they-damn-selfs in their San Francisco practice space, and again mixed by Monte Vallier (Weekend, Half Church). Hey, Parrothead: changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes, right? Right! Which is why the Malts tropes youve come to know and love havent gone anywhere: anger, hatred, exhaustion, delusion, seclusion, consumption, life, death, breathing, eating, and probably some sensitivity or something. Its all right in front of your ear balls!

Tropical Popsicle is the brianchild of Tim Hines. Trop Pop's current form consists of Hines and 3 other miscreants that share their time in other notable local acts. These guys personify community but thrive on originality. Though the band is still embryonic, they have already began to make waves locally by releasing two 7 inches on San Diego's Volar Records and supporting well-established acts the likes of Beach Fossils, The Fresh & Only's, Times New Viking, White Fence & More.
