Bay City Blues is our tribute and exploration into the Blues genre, it is a special event in which we all get to help, share, & “Preserve the Blues."

About Christoffer "Kid" Andersen:
Chris “Kid” Andersen was born in Telemark, Norway in 1980. A blues fan since childhood, Andersen fell in love with the music of Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Junior Watson, and the Kings (B.B., Albert and Freddie). By the time he was 18, he was backing all the American blues stars who came through Norway, including Homesick James, Nappy Brown and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith. He moved to California at age 21, eventually earning himself a green card as an “Alien of Extraordinary Ability.” Andersen released four solo albums before joining blues harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite’s band in 2004, a gig that lasted until he joined Rick Estrin & The Nightcats. Kid Andersen is known as the guitarist for Rick Estrin & The Nightcats with 3 BMA Nominations for Guitarist of the Year. The virtuoso also is the man behind Greaseland Studios, THE hub for authentic Blues Music in the Bay Area. Kid is bringing some of his favorite collaborators to Biscuits and Blues.

About John Blues Boyd:
JOHN “BLUES” BOYD was born in Greenwood, MS in 1945 and came up through hard times and much turmoil in the South. As a young boy, he used to sing the Blues in the fields while he and his father picked cotton, and at night he would jump on any chance to catch all the popular artists of the day that would pass by Greenwood. Those artists included Bobby Bland, BB King and Junior Parker, and young John had a natural ability for picking up on their vocal phrasing and tone. In 2015, there are very few that come close to John “Blues” Boyd when in come to evoking the spirit of the singers of that era. Unlike his famous cousin, Eddie Boyd, John forewent a career in music most of his life in favor of manual labor. He moved to California with his wife Dona Mae in the early 80's a worked as a roofer until he retired in his early 60's. A few years back, John hooked up with KID ANDERSEN and AKI KUMAR and started playing with them around the Bay Area and recording his original blues songs as well as remakes of old classics. When his wife of 47 years passed away in 2014, she told John that he should pursue his music, and he has been writing and singing new blues songs ever since, and collaborating with established musicians such as Rick Estrin, Big Jon Atkinson and Jim Pugh for an upcoming release. “John ‘Blues’ Boyd is the real deal, there are very few blues singers of his calibre left in the world.”

About Big Jon Atkinson:
Big Jon is a remarkable new talent on the old-school blues scene. He currently holds the guitar chair with Kim Wilson's Blues Band, but is also making a name for himself as a solo artist, and few can match his vocal, guitar and harmonica skills. He is also an excellent drummer and bassist and there will be some musical chairs played between Jon and Kid during this show.

About Jim Pugh:
In a career spanning over 40 years, keyboardist Jim Pugh has recorded and performed with a star-studded array of musicians including BB King, Etta James ,John Lee Hooker, Robert Cray and Van Morrison, Both in studio and concert hall. June Core : Currently the drummer with Charlie Musselwhite, June Core's career have included stints with Little Charlie and The Nightcats, Lavern Baker and almost everybody else in blues since being taught Blues first hand by Willie Dixon and Robert Jr. Lockwood. Eric Spaulding - Tenor Sax honker Spaulding is relatively new to the Bay Area, after having spent time with Roomful of Blues and Billy Price on the East Coast.
