Thomas Morphis transforms life drawings on hand-painted papers into colorful, tactile geometric abstractions. Viewed from a distance, you see patterns and columns of color. Yet a more intimate view reveals glimpses of faces, hands, torsos, etc. Thomas Morphis was raised in Spokane, Washington, then moved to Portland, Oregon, where he completed a BFA in painting at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Then he moved to Michigan before settling in Napa Valley, CA. During this time, he also was a prolific artist - to date he has had 24 solo exhibitions and has been included in nearly 80 group exhibitions. Thomas is showing at Spark Arts June 1-22.
