SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 9, 2013) – After a four month hiatus following its enormously popular runs in both Berkeley and San Francisco, The Marsh is delighted to announce that Lynne Kaufman’s critically acclaimed play ACID TEST: The Many Incarnations Of Ram Dass will return to The Marsh San Francisco September 6 – October 12, 2013. The show will play on Fridays at 8:00pm and Saturdays at 8:30pm. For tickets, the public may visit http://www.themarsh.org
or call 415-282-3055 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Performed by Warren David Keith and directed by Joel Mullennix, this is the true story of Richard Alpert, aka Ram Dass, the famous Harvard psychology professor and spiritual seeker. Along with Timothy Leary, Ram Dass started the psychedelic revolution and then, in the third of three life transformations, went on to become an international teacher on enlightenment.
In December, the production traveled to Ram Dass’s home in Hawaii to perform the play for him before a select audience of his followers. Ram Dass has taken a keen interest in the show but, following a debilitating stroke, is too frail to travel. He noted that he loved the play, and said his ego soared, “an occurrence he has battled against for a lifetime.”
Lynne Kaufman’s twenty full-length plays have been produced at theatres all over the United States, including Actors Theatre of Louisville, Magic Theatre, Theatreworks, The Fountain Theatre, and The Abingodon. Warren David Keith has appeared at theaters throughout the Bay Area, including the Aurora, Marin Theatre Company, Word For Word, and the California Shakespeare Theater. Joel Mullennix most recently directed the highly successful productions of Olive Kitteridge, More Stories by Tobias Wolff, and Which is More Than I Can Say About Some People for Word For Word.
