SantaCon, the annual fracas of drunken Santas that fills the streets and dive bars of San Francisco each December, is coming to town.

The action starts Saturday at noon with thousands of Santas taking over Union Square for an impromptu party. From there, splinter cells move on to popular drinking corridors Polk Street, North Beach, the Marina and the Mission. By early evening, it’s a drunken mess with booze-soaked Santas fighting gravity as they make the trek home or keep the party going. In all, a fairly fitting prelude to the holidays.
