Washburn Studio, a boutique learning center and artist space is hosting its first event on April 13th. This premiere event will showcase artwork from four upcoming local artists in addition a special showing from Senz (Coach, Agnes B, Cassius, Draft). There will be a mix of music with a special demo by DJ PONE (DMC Champ 1999, Travis Barker Warped Tour).

We catch up with the head honcho behind the event, Chucky Brown, to give us a few words on why he wanted to put together this party.

“In October I rented a studio for The Art Of DJing. It is a 1100sq loft in the Heart of SOMA. 14 Ft High ceilings, full kitchen, and filled with my record collection. I was thinking; with people coming in learning to DJ, what better place to hold an event to showcase their skills. But we did not stop there. We also have an “OPEN DOOR” policy, this is very unique to the art scene, where artists can use Washburn Studio to show their work. Being in the nightlife industry for 25 years helped me to know know some great places to eat, so we invited Balompie to come and feature their gourmet empanadas. And what event would be complete without some mouthwatering cocktails, so we added that too. My role was taking the obvious and putting it all together, to give you guys something fun and cultural on a Saturday evening. It is nice and early, so no reason to not stop by.”
