Charles Phan’s Empire Grows

Restaurateur Charles Phan never seems to be satisfied with just one project. His latest restaurant, Wo Hing General Store, opened in the Mission late last year. And now, he’s planning another unique spot on the waterfront.

Inside Scoop reports that Phan is taking over a vacant space on Pier 3 where he will open a new restaurant and bar concept “inspired by New Orleans.”

The project is still unnamed, but the Scoop said “it will be adjacent to the Plant Cafe with an initial estimated opening of summer 2012.”

Olle Lundberg will design the space as he has done for all of Phan’s other restaurants and an ode to the New Orleans/Southern vibe can be expected. Erik Adkins will oversee the spirits program.

This is just the latest part of the growing Waterfront Partners’ development, which already includes Plant Cafe, La Mar and Lafitte. Plans also include the 8 Washington development across the Embarcadero, which is still pending final City approval.
