Jean Paul Gaultier Inspired Performance at the de Young Museum
The de Young Museum will be hosting Process by 2012 de Young artist fellow Monique Jenkinson (aka Fauxnique) at the Kimball Education Gallery starting February 15 and ending February 26, Wednesday through Sunday from 3-5pm.

Dancer and performance artist Jenkinson and collaborators will be—with the support of CounterPULSE and Dancers’ Group—interpreting the works of acclaimed French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier from the de Young permanent collection and Gaultier exhibition. The subversive Gaultier first emerged on the global fashion scene in the 1970s; since then, his textile and fashion designs have inspired controversy and he repeatedly questions the rigidity of gender roles in his work.
Taking cues from Gaultier, and drawing on feminist and queer theory, Jenkinson has choreographed a nightlife themed routine that examines apposite issues in culture and fashion.
All performances will take place at the Kimball Education Gallery at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park and are free to the public.
