Una Pizza Napoletana’s Family Expands with New Baby and New Pizza

Una Pizza Napoletana‘s master pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri is the proud father of a baby girl born last year. So he’s added a new pizza to UPN’s menu, named after their baby daughter Apollonia. This follows his custom of expanding UPN’s menu, when his personal family expands. Symbolic of how he’s devoted his life to pizza making. The first addition was after his marriage in 2010, Mangieri created a new pizza named for his wife Ilaria, topped with smoked mozzarella, fresh cherry tomatoes, arugula, extra virgin olive oil, and no sauce.

Apollonia’s pizza ($25) is only available on Saturdays, topped with fresh eggs, parmigiano reggiano, buffalo mozzarella, salami, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, fresh garlic, sea salt and black pepper. The first and only UPN pizza with meat, at the SF location. The video below, taped at his old shop in NY, best illustrates Mangieri’s devotion to his craft.
