New Fry in Town Celebrates Free Fries Friday

There’s another freebie promotion this month. Burger King is introducing their new-and-improved french fries nationwide, by designating Friday, December 16 as “Free Fries Friday.” So today, any consumer can get one complimentary value size order of BK’s new fries. No purchase necessary and no coupon is needed, while supplies last, at participating locations.

According to BK’s press release, “a thicker cut of potato gives each bite more fluffy, potato flavor on the inside and crispy, golden-brown deliciousness on the outside.” Not quite steak fries, they’re described as thick as a pen or pencil. The fries are cooked in trans fat free vegetable oil, have a tad less sodium (330 mg) than the previous recipe, and don’t contain animal products. BK is not the only chain with a french fry makeover. Last year, rivals Jack in the Box tweaked their fries, and Wendy’s introduced “natural cut” fries sprinkled with sea salt.

Can it beat McDonald’s? considered the golden standard for french fries. It’s not just me saying that, but Zagat surveys continuously place McD’s as having the best fries. Now you can sample the latest contender in the french fry wars, for free. If you get to sample them, let us know in the comments below. In your opinion, who has the better fries?
