More 15mph School Speed Zones?

There are a lot of schools in San Francisco and cars pretty much drive like maniacs around them, especially those parents trying to get their kid to school on time before whizzing off to work or other duties. That’s why the SFMTA wants to lower the speed limit around these institutions to 15mph.

According to Streetsblog, “New signs warning drivers could be in the ground as early as this winter.”

However, the bureaucracy behind getting the signs put in is pretty overwhelming as “Each school zone would need to be approved by the board, and each local jurisdiction would have to adopt the changes by resolution.”

And with over 200 schools in the city, that’s a lot of 15mph zones. Yikes.
